The National Catholic Bioethics Center, in collaboration with the Knights of Columbus, is hosting its Workshop for Catholic Bishops in Dallas on February 2 through 4. This biennial gathering educates bishops regarding contemporary biomedical moral issues including mental health, cannabis, loneliness and isolation, determination of death, and others.
Martin Nussbaum, a partner at First & Fourteenth PLLC will join a panel chaired by NCBC’s Senior Ethicist, Father Tad Pacholczyk, Ph.D, entitled “Protecting Dioceses from Gender Ideology.”
Mr. Nussbaum will discuss a series of seven federal regulations mandating health plan coverage, health care performance requirements, gender-affirming speech codes, and opposite sex access to single sex spaces. The coverage and performance mandates relate to contraception, sterilization, abortion, and so-called gender affirming care.
Mr. Nussbaum will explain how the Catholic Benefits Association has through a series of federal lawsuit acquired permanent injunctive relief from each of these for its members. Mr. Nussbaum serves as General Counsel for the Catholic Benefits Association.
