Zack Reynolds is a litigator with experience in complex commercial disputes, high stakes appeals, and the defense of constitutional rights. He represents clients in courts across the country. Judges and commentators have recognized him for having “remarkable judgment,” the “ability to serve as a rapid-response trial lawyer,” and successfully “representing clients in intense crisis moments.”
Zack’s approach to the law is encapsulated in his decision to pursue a Masters in Statesmanship from Hillsdale College—to learn what the law should be—before attending the University of Chicago Law School—to learn what the law is. This same ideal informs his approach to his clients—to work within the world that is to fight for the world that ought to be.
Zack’s practice as a litigator has exposed him to nearly every area of law, ranging from foundational constitutional disputes and resisting government regulatory overreach, to intellectual property matters, commercial contract disputes, antitrust actions, and biometric and data privacy issues. Zack represents clients at all levels of the judiciary and has significant trial, oral advocacy, and critical motion and brief drafting experience. He has played key roles in litigating high-stakes, complex commercial disputes with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, first-chaired mediations and federal trials, and briefed matters before federal and state appellate and Supreme Courts seeking vindication of his clients First, Second, Fourth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
Before entering private practice, Zack served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edith H. Jones of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Honorable Benjamin J. Beaton of the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. He graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School. After clerking, Zack began his private practice as an associate at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher before joining First and Fourteenth.
Apart from his legal practice, Zack is an aspiring renaissance man—a humble collector of eclectic hobbies, an outdoor and adrenaline enthusiast (often with a rambunctious toddler in tow), and a practitioner of the hammered dulcimer.
