The Colorado Supreme Court will hear argument tomorrow in Unite for Colorado v. Griswold, a key state campaign-finance case. At issue is how Colorado defines an issue committee under the state constitution’s “major purpose” standard. The Court will consider whether an organization can be treated as an issue committee subject to state reporting and disclosure laws even when it directs less than 10% its total spending and time to advocating for or against a particular ballot measure.
The ruling will set important state constitutional standards for how issue-advocacy groups are regulated in Colorado.
